Dear Dr. med. Vincenzo Bluni, I am pregnant in the 30+3 SSW. I am very worried because while I was eating some few almonds, I tasted a very bitter taste, so I think I've eaten a bitter almond or maybe 2... I've read that to poison an adult person is required a bigger amount ... but, is it dangerous for the baby? Could it be somehow harmful for her? Or is the placenta protecting from this? Looking forward for his answer. Thanks.
hello, because of the 2-4% proportion of amygdalin contained by the bitter almonds, we recommend, not to consume them during pregnancy. But under normal cirumstances the one time consumption won’t automatically be connected to clinical consequences. This restriction does not apply to sweet almonds. Kind regards V.Bluni
