Any English speakers?

Hallo...my name is Amanda Waldmannstetter, and I am married to a German from Niederbayern. We are currently in Texas, and I am 14 weeks' pregnant with our first child. I am 39.
We do plan on living permanently in Germany in a few years, and I hope to be fluent by then! I would love to hear from other mothers-to-be who are also having their first baby after age 35. All submissions will be answered...
Thank you.

Hi Amanda,
nice to meet you here. My name is Nadine and I live in Lausanne, Switzerland, but I am originally from Germany. I am 17 weeks pregnant now with our first child. While the scan wasn't crystal clear, the doc thinks it might be a baby boy. I don't mind the gender as long as it's healthy!
I am 35 now, and will be 36 by the time 'mini' arrives. I was a bit scared when the doc told me chances for trisomy are 1:300 at my age but the neck measurement and the bloodtest brought probability down to 1:3064, quite a relief.
How is your pregnancy going? I am sure treatment is different than in Germany, I can already notice quite some differences between Germany and Switzerland.
Best
Nadine

Hi Amanda,

nice to read someone from overseas.

This website is very interesting I think. I am pregnant with my 2nd baby and have a daughter who is 5 years old now. I have been knowing this website since I was pregnant with my first baby. It was always interesting and often helpful to "talk" to other women expecting a baby.

So you and your husband live in Texas? And you are studying German?

I am 36 years old and I am working for a market research company. We realize studies in the automobile field as well as financial sector. It is quite interesting and I will be working until November. I am due to give birth in December.

Would be nice to hear from you...

Kind regards,

Monika
